The EWB Challenge Showcase is a key theme within EWB Australia's annual 'Making an Impact' Summit.   The top student teams from participating universities in Australia and New Zealand present their humantitarian engineering and community development projects to the EWB Challenge judges, engage in workshops on humanitarian engineering or professional development, and are eligible for selection for the EWB Challenge Awards.

The 2018 EWB Challenge is proud to partner with the Cambodia Rural Development Team.

Outline of the Summit Event

  • It’s a one day event held in the Melbourne CBD.

EWB Challenge 2018 - Student Presentations and Judging

The EWB Challenge Showcase is one of the key themes of the Summit and will be held throughout the morning and afternoon sessions.

Your team will be allocated bench space in the ‘marketplace’ and you’ll set up your project display in time for the opening of the 'Making an Impact' Summit.

Displays can include laptops, project models, posters, printed materials, and  a university banner (not too large!).

Two judging teams will move around the marketplace and spend at least 10 minutes focussed at each display.  Your team will interact  directly with the judges, presenting your project,  highlighting key features  addressing the criteria; and answering questions from the judges.

You should be prepared to engage directly with the Judges using your verbal and communication skills to explain your project.  A good way to think about this is to imagine you're in the field working alongside Cambodia Rural Development Team  working to meet the community's needs and aspirations.  Imagine the community's point of view and to speak to that.

You can visit the other teams' displays and interact with your peers.  You'll also have the opportunity to vote for your favourite project in the People's Choice Award.
