SkillME Project Partnership Co-Manager

The NSW Region of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) is committed to EWB’s mission to provide everyone with the engineering knowledge and resources required to live a life of opportunity free from poverty.

We provide meaningful volunteering opportunities and coordinate activities on a regional scale for university students, professionals and employees of our corporate partners. We work directly with communities in NSW and support EWB’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program and International Programs. We also provide EWB members with opportunities to grow and learn about working with communities, development practice and leadership.

EWB Local Partnership with SkillMe Project

The Local Partnerships Program facilitates meaningful and lasting change for disadvantaged communities in Australia by addressing issues relating to lack of access to engineering services and resources. EWB achieves this by developing long term partnerships with local Australian community organisations based on mutual trust and respect.

In NSW, EWB is engaged in a partnership with Sydney community organisation Metro Assist in 2018 and have been working together for 1 year. The organisation offers multiple services including employment support programs such as SkillME project. The SkillMe project works with jobseekers from migrant and refugee backgrounds. One of SkillME’s programs is the Skilled Migrant Employment Preparation Program, an eight-week -week job preparation program for highly-skilled clients. Many engineers and IT professionals join this program.

The partnership aims to work collaboratively with the organisation to improve employment outcomes for engineer and IT migrants who face significant difficulties entering into the Sydney engineering and IT job market.

Role Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and committed volunteer to assist in co-managing EWB’s partnership with Metro Assist. You will be working alongside the current partnership manager and staff from Metro Assist to support and develop collaborative projects within the long term partnership.

You will also be working closely with the Local Partnership NSW Co-ordinator and the National Local Partnerships knowledge hub to further develop EWB’s Local Partnership strategy.
