Interested in volunteering with EWB and our partners overseas?

EWB is forming new partnerships and planning new projects so we have new overseas opportunities starting later in the year that we're in the process of finalisation. Register your interest now and we'll send you more information when the assignment descriptions have been fully developed.  EWB will be running our next round of Sustainable Community Development training in early October, which will be a prerequisite to be considered for our overseas placements.

The positions below are mostly planned to start in November 2019, with some in early 2020.

Opportunities Available

1. Solar-Powered Systems Mentor - Port Vila, VANUATU (12+ months)
We're seeking candidates with a background in mechanical or energy engineering with experience in designing solar-powered pump systems. This role will support our partner organisation to increase access to clean water for rural communities and improve the sustainability of their WASH programs and solar-powered pump systems.

2. EWB Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program Mentor – CAMBODIA (12+ months)
Support the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of EWB’s WASH  projects in partnership with local organisations (government and NGOs). The WASH projects contribute to improve access to WASH facilities and services at community level. They also contribute to strengthen the technical capacity in WASH of local organisations. Experience in WASH related engineering, human-centred design approach and project cycle management is required.

3. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program Mentor – CAMBODIA (12+ months)
Support the capacity building of technical staff of EWB Cambodia’s partners, in design, construction, operation and maintenance of WASH infrastructure. The mentor will also provide support in establishing monitoring and evaluation plans for the partner organisations. Experience in engineering, human-centred design approach and international development best practices is required.

4. WASH Supply Chain Engineer - CAMBODIA (12+ months)
Work with our partner to design innovative, attractive products and brings them to market at an affordable price.  This assignment will continue the progress achieved by our partner and will support the design iteration and production of a sanitation shelter. This role will focus on applying a human-centred design iteration process, developing a strategy for stakeholder involvement in the supply chain, and strengthening the capacity of staff involved in the design, manufacturing, transport and construction. 

5. Inclusive Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program Mentor – TIMOR LESTE (12+ months)
Support the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of EWB’s inclusive WASH projects in partnership with local organisations. The WASH projects contribute to improve access to WASH facilities and services at community level with a particular focus on people with mobility issues. They also contribute to strengthen the technical capacity in WASH of local organisations. Experience in WASH related engineering, human-centred design approach and project cycle management is required.

6. Accessible Product Development Mentor - CAMBODIA (12+ months)
We're seeking interest from Mechanical or Product Development Engineers or Product Designers or Occupational Therapists to work with EWB and our partner(s) in Cambodia to help refine, test and implement of one or more mechanical technologies aimed at improving people with disabilities' access to agricultural livelihoods.

7. WASH Technical Mentor, PAPUA NEW GUINEA
EWB is exploring a new partnership in PNG which will enable us to exapnd our program and start contributing to capacity stregnthening of the WASH sector in PNG.
