The App Tech Applied program is a practical arm of App Tech where engineering problems are solved by not only designing a model, but by building a physical prototype and testing it.

Projects are aimed at engaging students with technical problems faced by local community groups, remote Aboriginal communities and third world countries through the common thread of humanitarian engineering. There is a strong focus on using appropriate technology, which involves using innovative solutions that are both environmentally sustainable and culturally sensitive.

Some of the potential projects for 2016 include a solar air heater, an atmospheric water extractor, a greenhouse made from recycled material and a foot-operated tap for Cambodian school children.

This program is not strictly for engineers; science, law, commerce, arts or architecture students can contribute to projects. Anyone interested in getting involved should email inquiries to apptech.ewbmonash@gmail.com
