Engineering Redefined Report
BlogEngineering Redefined Report

With female participation rates across engineering in Australia at an all-time low with a forecasted decline, the sector has a chronic gender diversity issue, despite a range of interventions. A new report - “Engineering Redefined” - sparks fresh calls for the sector to be reimagined. In the Australian workforce, female engineers are a rare sight at just 12 percent. In comparison, Engineers Without Borders Australia (EWB) has a uniquely high female engagement, at 41 percent. Amongst a range of findings, the report suggests that involving women in humanitarian and social projects could be a crucial key in getting more females involved in engineering. It also opens a broader discussion on addressing diversity - beyond the gender gap - in the sector.
