A massive boost to Regioneering in regional NSW, through our passionate volunteers

The EWB School Outreach program in regional NSW recently received a wonderful boost, thanks to a volunteer’s passionate pitch to an internal employee grants program.

Jacky Cai, a 25-year-old graduate in mechatronic engineering, applied for the funding through Komatsu’s ‘Live Your Dream’ program, devised to assist its employees to achieve personal goals to help communities.

His grant will see him and two fellow recent graduates - Laura Deaves and Daren Thanh, along with 13 volunteers from EWB's UNSW Chapter - lead EWB School Outreach workshops in Orange, Wellington, Dubbo, Gilgandra, Coonabarabran, Gunnedah, Narromine, Coonamble, Gulargambone and Trangie, enabling primary and secondary students to explore future career paths and enhance their understanding of humanitarian engineering.

The team will be using newly developed School Outreach content, tailored to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learning approaches and showcasing the historical and contemporary examples of Indigenous engineering.

Meet Jacky Cai, Laura Deaves and Daren Thanh and learn about their inspirations and aspirations in engineering for good!
