Ross McEwan
Ross is a Structural Engineer working at Structural Works in Balwyn. He has completed a degree with Honours in Civil Engineering at Monash University, and has also dabbled in the forbidden subjects (as far as other engineers are concerned!) of humanities with an Arts degree.
After attending the EWB “Pathways to Development” Workshop, he became interested in helping out with Engineers Without Borders. Noticing the lack of a Structural Knowledge Hub, participating in the formation of this seemed like a great place to start. He is passionate that Structures become an integral part of EWB, which will allow developing communities to get the most out of their built environment.
When not engineering up a storm, Ross enjoys shredding sweet powder, travelling and drawing.
Dave Miller
Dave is currently working as a Structural Engineer for a large engineering consultant in Melbourne. He's passionate about his work which concerns the technical aspects of buildings and bridges, but he's also secretly envious of architects! Dave was hooked on EWB after attending the 2009 National Conference, and initially got involved through the WASH Knowledge Hub Committee.
So... how do we build sustainably, both in Australia and in the developing world? And how might a structural engineer or an architect help EWB projects have even more positive impact? These are some of the questions that Dave would like to help find answers to.
Samantha Levy
She spends her working hours as an architectural graduate in a large firm in Melbourne, while also dedicating time to volunteer for EWB and various other non-profits. Her leisure hours are set aside for yoga, dance and tending to her mini plantation of herbs.
Having completed degrees in architecture and construction management, Samantha intends to combine sustainable building design and permaculture in a holistic approach towards the development of an ecologically sound built environment.
