In 2008 Melbourne Water signed a three way partnership agreement with EWB and the Kooma Traditional Owners Association. The aim is to share Melbourne Water’s skills and resources to build capacity of the Kooma Nation to meet their aspirations of improved water sources and waterways. At the same time, Melbourne Water would like to see their employees build their knowledge and capacity in cultural heritage, awareness and land management on Kooma country.
Kaiadilt Aboriginal Corporation (KAC) has been managing affairs of the Kaiadilt people since 1984. KAC has a primary role in maintaining infrastructure on Bentinck Island, where EWB is working together to improve living facilities of the Kaiadilt people’s homeland.
Bana Yarrilji Bubu Aboriginal Corporation are an incorporated body that represent the interests of the Kunawarra clan group associated with the Shipton’s Flat - a cultural healing place for the Kuku Nyunkgal people in the Queensland Daintree. Their work at Shipton’s Flat is being positioned as a leading example for the development of sustainable livelihoods on a range of different locations in the Wet tropics.
