2009 Workshop

In 2009, EWB Australia launched its inaugural national Pathways to Working with Developing Communities workshop series. Designed for students and professionals of all ages, Pathways was a one day workshop aimed at individuals wanting to gain skills and experience to equip them for work in international development, aid, and capacity building.

In Perth, activities included a returned volunteers panel, guest speakers, skills development workshops, an appropriate technologies expo, and a development simulation activity.Participants took part in a scenario as part of an Indian family in a rural community, trying to make ends meet. ‘I thought the hands on approach was really good. It certainly broke down a bunch of barriers which I normally feel when on ‘networking’ sessions. Everyone felt like friends by the end of the day’ said one participant. Committee members were inspired to see so many people of all age groups coming together with an amazing amount of enthusiasm, all looking to make the world a better place.
