Material Properties - Feed Stocks

About

The properties of the feed stocks used, the biochar produced and the soil that biochar is applied to all contribute to the relative success of biochar as a soil ammendment.  This page provides an overview of the properties of feed stocks that can be used to produce biochar and how those feed stock properties effect the the type of biochar produced.

The feed stock for biochar can be any renewable organic material i.e. matter rich in carbon that is capable of decay.  Feed stocks may be waste biomass derived from crop residues, animal wastes or industry residues.
