Information, Communication, and Technology for Educational Activities

Current communications in Devikulam are reliant on mobile phone technology and there are no landlines available due to the absence of the necessary infrastructure. Most of the homes in the village have at least a radio or television for news and entertainment. Pitchandikulam forest is planning to create a computer information centre at the nearby village of Nadukuppam which will train various collectives such as the women’s group, famers group, student group and villagers. The computer centre will also be the village information centre where all data will be kept in a GIS computer that will be used for the planning and development of the Nadukuppam and the surrounding village, including Devikulam. This centre is intended to connect the villagers with the government officials and the world at large.
