Our Purpose - Why a Region Model?

EWB Victoria Region Chapter

The Engineers Without Borders Australia (EWB) Victorian Region Chapter is the strategic decision making body for EWB initiatives in Victoria. The Region Chapter (through standing sub-committees, lead by Champions) coordinates local projects, indigenous and non-indigenous partnerships, fundraising and events, and knowledge and education initiatives throughout Victoria.

We are lead by a team of dedicated and experienced volunteers working in the engineering sector. There are three fundamental responsibilities for the Victoria Region Chapter.

1. Regional Strategy

The Region Chapter will provide strategic direction for all EWB interest groups and initiatives in Victoria. This will primarily involve ensuring that all initiatives fit within EWB’s 2015 Strategic Aims and Objectives (http://www.ewb.org.au/about/aboutewb/ouraims) and that adequate resources and funding are made available to all groups and initiatives, where relevant. 2. Accountability and Decision Making

The Region Chapter will make decisions regarding initiatives and resourcing in Victoria, allowing the Victorian region to effectively govern itself, with the EWB National Office providing oversight and support where needed. Region accountability therefore also sits with the Victorian Region Chapter.

EWB in Victoria will continue to be made up of a significant number of interest groups within our corporate partners and on university campuses. These groups will continue to coordinate events and initiatives. The Victorian Region Chapter will manage the approval process for these initiatives.

3. Regional Support

The Region Chapter will be responsible for providing support and assistance to the University Chapters, official corporate partners, knowledge hubs, interest groups, members and individuals of EWB to allow them to achieve their goals. The Region Chapter will act as a conduit of communication and collaboration between these groups.
