Awards Ceremony and Student Prizes
The EWB Challenge awards ceremony will be held at the EWB conference following the finalist team presentations.
All students in the six finalist teams will all receive certificates to acknowledge their achievement. Awards will be presented based on the combined results of their report submission and presentation. These include:
- EWB Challenge Overall Champion Award
- Thiess Award for Innovation in Appropriate Technology
- BHP Billiton Award for Sustainable Design and Community Engagement
The Champion team will be invited to join EWB for an international study tour on community development. The tour will run for approximately three-four weeks and include an observation visit to the host program.
During the study tour the winning team will:
- Learn about the role of engineering in community development through first-hand experience.
- Learn more about EWB programs: from program initiation to design, implementation and review.
- Visit the EWB host program, where possible. The opportunity may arise for students to contribute to the program.
- Learn about another country and its social, environmental and engineering issues.
