Judging Process

Universities are requested to nominate up to four team submissions for external judging. The team reports and executive summaries will be reviewed by a multidisciplinary engineering judging panel. The panel will include representatives from:

  • Engineers Without Borders Australia
  • The East West Overseas Aid Foundation
  • Thiess
  • Engineers Australia
  • The Australian Council of Engineering Deans
  • The Australasian Association for Engineering Education
  • Speak Out

The judging panel will decide on a short-list of six entries to be presented by the design teams during a special session at the annual AAEE conference. Team prizes will be awarded based on both the written submission and team presentations. The relative contribution will be in the order of 75% for the written submission and 25% for the team presentations.

Individual universities will be responsible for supporting the participation of their finalist team(s) at the AAEE Conference. However, teams may seek local sponsorship to cover travel costs. Alternatively, a video entry may be submitted if necessary. It is possible that some financial support for finalist teams may become available through competition sponsorship.
