World Walk for Water and Sanitation

Posted by EWB National

Saturday 17th March 2012      to     Sunday 25th March 2012, 12:00am

Location: The World (View map)

EWB volunteers are working on water, sanitation and hygiene projects in developing communities. We think this is a pretty cool campaign to raise awareness about the need for water and sanitation in some parts of the world.

The World Walks for Water and Sanitation is a global event demanding action to address the world’s largest crisis – water and sanitation.

From 17 to 25 March 2012, thousands of people will walk together to demand political change. And you can take part too!

By acting together, in our thousands, all over the world, we can make governments take the actions needed to ensure clean water and sanitation for all. Now is the time to tell the world's politicians about our concern! Now is the time the World Walks for Water and Sanitation!

The walks will take place around World Water Day, 22 March, and will build on the success of The World's Longest Toilet Queue in 2010 and of the World Walks for Water campaign in 2011.

Because of these global actions, governments are beginning to take notice, promises have been made, and there has been progress internationally and in many countries. This has encouraged hundreds of organisations of ordinary people around the world to come together again in 2012 and keep up the pressure.

Safe drinking water and sanitation is a human right which must be upheld, and we need you to get involved and make a stand.
