Reviewer Required for Solar Training Material

Posted by Rasika Mohan to Energy, 18th November at 10:31 PM

Hi All,

I am the field officer for South Asia. One of my volunteers is working at the Jyoti vocational training centre in Pokhara Nepal on a Level 2 Training Course.

We are looking for someone to assist with the review of this material in January 2012.

Is there anyone out there who can assist?

Thanks!
Rasika

Hi Glen,

Thanks for the reply. It will be a great help to look over the material produced for the solar PV curriculum. The documents will include training manuals, practical class ideas and assessment methods.

At the moment I have collated a lot of material and produced a first draft. Once the documents have been polished a little more I will upload them in Jan 2012.

Thanks again,

Alec Leonello

Hi Alec,

I'm happy to help as well if required. How much material is there - is it worth breaking it up for different reviewers?

What is the focus of the training manual? e.g. design, install, maintenance. I've worked more on the design side so am probably more suited to review that material, but have a general understanding of the other parts

Best of luck!

Hey team,

This looks awesome! Looking at some of these that have worked and some that dont, taking the time to define what it looks like when its finished, and when it needs to be submitted for reviewed, then finally finished; seems to separate them. That wasy the team back home can call on the networks approriately to get it done, reviewed and submitted.

Sweet!!!

Love the KH / OS program colab,

Marko

Hi All,

Although I have no experience in Solar, I've been involved in writing technical training manuals/documents. I'm happy to offer a different pair of eyes to review from a novice point of view. Drop me a line on frank.j.walsh@gmail.com is required.

Frank

Hi,

Thanks everyone for the interest in the solar PV curriculum being developed for the Jyoti Vocational Training Centre, Pokhara.

The focus of the training material is on maintenance and repair of solar PV systems and will be used by the teaching staff at Jyoti as an additional teaching aid for the students. The background of the students requires producing material for classes that is primarily practical based rather than theory based.

The major study areas will focus on:

Installation testing

Battery Maintenance

Electronic Basics and Fault Fining of Components

Each study area will have some basic theory, practical exercises and a practical assessment for the students to complete.

Once I post the material on the EWB site feel free to make any suggestions for changes / additions to the material.

Thanks again for the support,

Alec Leonello

Hi Alec,

I would also be interested in having a review/look through the training material! I was very interested in that placement when it came out so would be great to be able to help out and see whats been done to date.

Will it be from a clarity and readability point of view or a technical? or combination of?

Regards,

Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the post!

I think that a combined review of both technical aspects and clarity of information presented will be beneficial. The technical material is aimed at the staff of JVTC who have a high skill level in the electrical trade, however the content of the material and assessments are aimed at students with a background of low level of educational. So I think it will be great to look at it from both angles.

Thanks again. Regards,

Alec

Hi everyone,
I have posted a copy of the draft documents for the solar PV curriculum in the resources section of the Jyoti page located here:
http://www.ewb.org.au/explore/communitypartners/jyoti
It would be great if all comments for the review of the material could go in the discussion section of the Jyoti page.
The documents should be read in the following order:
Battery maintenance
Basic Electronics
Component Fault Finding
Installation Practices
System Design
Thanks for the support and I look forward to hearing some of your comments and suggestions.
Regards,
Alec
