Workshops

Volunteers from EWB Chapters work directly with school students and teachers and encourage students to explore their own capacity to respond to local and global sustainable development issues.

Since 2004, EWB members have undertaken a number of different activities in schools. Current activities include: Global Water Workshops These workshops include interactive presentations and activities on global water issues and the role of engineering in international development. Students works in groups to construct a simple water filter through a role-play activity focused on international water resources. 'Stop Poverty with Technology' Workshops These workshops provide students with a 'hands-on' opportunity to experience different technologies that are changing the lives of people in developing countries for the better. Students learn about the concept of appropriate technology through case studies then construct simple technologies such as clay water filters, solar ovens and briquette makers. Presentations on Engineering and EWB EWB members and returned volunteers share their experiences and knowledge of EWB and its programs. Presentations typically include an overview of EWB, project case studies and discussion with students on how they can make a difference and get involved.
