Here at Engineers Without Borders we are always looking for unique ways to represent the way people have supported our organisation. Although funds are vitally important to EWB, support is also delivered though professionals services, office space, legal advice and volunteer time. These are as equally important as monetary donations and can have a large impact. This is a concept we call the leverage ratio.
The intention is to give you, our supporter, an understanding of the value of in-kind support and how we leverage that support to make a positive impact on the communities we work with.
In this way we measure the multiplying effect your dollar achieves. The higher the ratio, the greater the effect of your donation. The leverage ratio gives you, our supporter, an understanding of how a relatively small organisation like EWB manages to achieve so much more than our turnover suggests.
